Surprised with the negative reviews on this PLA. I use Hatchbox EXCLUSIVELY and have done so for 2 years. I print cosplay props and armored suits for a living and there is NO SUBSTITUTE for this stuff in this price range. Having tried many brands I settled on Hatch along time ago. That said, I can go through up to 4-6 spools of Hatchbox a week. Both in 1.75 and 3.0mm diameters (I own 2 Creality CR-10's and a Lulzbot Taz 6). Call me lucky, but I have never had a tangled spool, but I can see that happening with any manufacturer. As far as brittle or ugly prints, you need to tune your profile if that's happening. I can print a helmet at 40% infill and throw it across the shop with no damage. Thigh pieces, boots...all have accidentally fallen off a table or two...the thighs from 6 feet....again no damage. Not indestructible, but VERY strong even without oven annealing.
This PLA is strong, has a great finish, is consistently the stated diameter (I check with calipers), and does not warp like others I have tried. Parts have survived shipping to France from the U.S.! I use the silver, gray and black colors primarily.
No, I'm not a paid reviewer. I was actually about to order 6 rolls when I saw a pretty negative review of this stuff and thought "nonsense." If you're thinking about getting some, do it.
