Customer Review

My old phono stage died and the repair was in the $1200 range- even though I loved my old phono stage and thought long and hard about repairing it, I couldn’t justify since, well sadly, digital and it’s convenience gets 99% of the playing time- my PS Audio DirectStream has me sitting and listening to my 2 channel system once again!

It’s been a long time since I’ve auditioned phono stages, so I bought this just based on internet reviews. I was excited until I started playing and album- sounded like it was muffled by a wet blanket! Since I bought this as a refurb from Amazon Warehouse, I thought for sure it was defective- but it looked brand spanking new. So I left it on and played it for about 20 hours just in case it needed a break in period... very glad I did because it sounded so much better after that. Never was a huge believer in break in until now. Let me be clear- 5 star rating is based on a $1,000 phono stage... this is NOT a $4,000 phono stage killer or anything like that... it does everything well, but nothing exceptional- but at this price point, it’s an overachiever. I have paired with my shelter 501 and VPI Scout. At retail, I would say this is one to put on a short list of sub $1k phono stages- but cost I paid as a refurbished item, it was a steal.
