A poignant, heart-touching story about a man trying to hold on to precious memories while saying good-bye to his grandson and family before dementia steals his mind away. As the room that is this grandfather's mind shrinks more every day, readers experience his grief at losing his grasp on reality as well as his urgency to hold on to a connection as long as he can. Like the ebb and flow of the tide, his mind and memories come and go as he finally releases his fears, regrets, and loved ones. Readers also live the agony of family members forced to accept losing a loved one to dementia - losing them before death steals them away.
Beautifully written, this was a first for me by this author, and it touched me deeply. I will definitely be reading more. A short story packed to the brim with feelings. A Must Read!
