My PC is older 2011 model and only has a 2.4 Ghz card installed. With my wifi router 2 walls and 12 feet away, my speed was 88 Mbps (not bad). I wanted to see if an antenna utilizing the 5 Ghz connection would help and I spent $15 on this USB one to try. My Wifi speed is running 260 on the 5 Ghz band now. I'm running Windows 7 and I installed the driver with the supplied thumb drive. I did need to restart my PC and plugged the antenna in while the PC was off. Initially, the PC didn't recognize it and said the driver was not successfully installed, but I moved the port and it picked it up. I moved it back to the other port after and it did fine, so some sort of initialization issue, but all good after. I'm satisfied with the improvement.
