This is a great book full of robtics projects suitable for children, but WARNING they are likely to need some adult guidance. The projects call for supplies not generally found around the house. This means the adult must be willing to search for the parts, though in the internet age, this shoukd not be too hard. Most parts will involve a relatively minor investment, but parents should be prepared for that. For the right combination of child and adult, this book could be a treasure trove of great things to do together, creating small robots that will move and can be used for play or show and tell at schools. It would give a child a great feeling of accomplishment as well as a good introduction to circuitry and robotics. However, if there is not an adult available who will support the endeavor, I would suggest not giving this as a gift. It would be really disappointing to see the projects and not be able to do them because of lack of supplies or technical support.
