I am not a big Stephen King fan. In fact the only other book of his Ive read is 11/22/63 but I am a fan of series. Plus the idea of good overcoming evil in a thriller intrigued me.
Mr. Mercedes is a high-suspense, high-stakes thriller with three of the most unlikely and bizarrely matched heroes I've ever encountered. They all meet through different circumstances and are trying to catch the killer who mowed down innocent people at a job fair. Like most killers, Mr. Mercedes isn't content with one kill and he wants his next one to be the biggest yet. Not only that he wants to enter a cat and mouse game with the retired police officer (Bill Hodges) who couldn't solve the case.
If you steer clear of Stephen King because you know him as the "King of Horror," do yourself a favor and turn off your preconceived notions. This Stephen King thrives on thrillers and suspense and I for one can't wait to dive into Finders Keepers and see what Bill Hodges does next!
