Customer Review

I read many of the reviews on Amazon about the oversplash and at the same time looked at some of the professional reviews from ProjectorCentral and such. Decided to give it a shot nevertheless and I am glad I did. The oversplash phenomenon while present does not detract the overall experience for an average consumer. It is so mild and sometimes non existent depending on the content and brightness levels. I was able to enjoy a very bright and razor sharp 140inch display without the oversplash while connecting my Xbox One and Android TV.

The menu system is very detailed and gives you a lot of control. One cool thing is, I get to choose the color of the wall on which the image will be projected and that automatically optimizes the output color setting accordingly. The 10 second menu timeout issue did not have an impact for me since the menu disappears only if you leave it idle for 10 full seconds. I would have loved more zoom length but for the money I paid, I can live with that.

I haven't tried the 3D yet but gaming was very immersive. Even without using the Game mode, I didn't experience any noticeable lag on Need for Speed and Forza. Haven't tried any FPS games but I am sure the experience will be positive. I will update the review with more findings soon.

Negative: The one thing that I am not happy about is the height adjustment screws at the bottom. Only two of the three are moving, the other one is just molded plastic and does not move. If you have an uneven surface for placing the projector, this is a real challenge. Optoma needs to explain why they did this and also make it clear in their manuals (the manual still says "three height adjustment screws").
