The only trouble with these books is that I can't lay them down, so I finish them in four days. I didn't know what to expect having a new author writing in the late Vince Flynn's style, which I love. But I wasn't disappointed. If anything, "The Survivor" was even better than I expected. Kyle not only managed to preserve Vince's style, he's even a "cleaner" writer. Meaning few, if any, grammatical errors. I suppose he has the same editors Vince had and they missed a lot, so I can only assume Kyle's work is correct in the first place.
"The Survivor" has just the right mix of background and action, never slowing down too much between the action-packed scenes. The familiar characters stay true to form and it's just a thoroughly enjoyable read!
No other author in this genre manages the crisp style that Flynn wrote with, so I'm really pleased to see it continue with Kyle. I just recently reread the entire Mitch Rapp series, including Flynn's first book, "Term Limits," which I've read about four times and never tire of it. I wish some retired spec-op guys would clean up our rotten government like that nowadays.
