Kindle stopped connecting to internet while other wireless devices in the house still work. Standard trouble shooting steps do not work. Based on several message boards I've found, this is a common issue and known by Amazon. The fact that it has not been resolved means they either (a) do not understand the issue or (b) it's a known issue with the HW that cannot be fixed with a SW update (my money is on "b")
To be honest I was disappointed with this product even before the wi-fi stopped working. I was replacing a 3 year old 8" Galaxy Tab A that frankly is far superior in almost every way (look/feel, design, responsiveness). The Fire just looks and feels cheap by comparison. Yes, it's less expensive than the Samsung, but if you divide that savings by the expected lifetime usage (2-3 years in my case), the savings comes to $2-4 per month. Not worth it for a decision I have to regret every day.
