Customer Review

The history of Tibet and Tibetans is really interesting, but it's also complicated and can be confusing. This book, with its multiple narratives of individual Tibetans, gives an ultra-vivid sense of the lived experience and has helped me understand the Tibetan predicament more clearly than ever. I was deeply absorbed by (and moved by) the individual stories. It helps that the writer is an exceptional stylist whose sentences are a pleasure to inhabit.
