I mostly appreciated the comments on the books not being accurate as to her personal live. I am also glad that they addressed the sometimes racist language. I never read her books, however I tried watching the TV series multiple times over several years from younger to adult. I always found them too cute and could not stick with it. There was something fake to me about them. I am glad that I had the opportunity to watch this documentary so many years later and realize that my intuition as a young girl was in some ways accurate as to the fantasy depictions of her childhood and the racist language. Just goes to tell you that even 8 year old children can have a hunch that something is wrong. I grew up on a farm myself and maybe therefore realized that something about the rosy perspective here was amiss. Also, really, how many people do you know that are desperately poor with all the stress this brings upon a family and have a happy childhood?
