I bought my TCL Alto 7.2.0 sound bar to pair via HDMI ARC with my TCL 55R617 TV - this seems to be a popular bundle on Amazon. Unfortunately it suffers from a serious flaw.
The minor flaws are somewhat 'muddy' sound, with lower-pitched dialog being very hard to hear, a volume control that adjusts painfully slowly between silent and slightly loud, and a flaw which means that if your TV/sound bar combo isn't switched off manually but sleeps due to inactivity, the sound bar won't wake up and has to be unplugged to power it off.
These alone re enough to make me regret my purchase. My old sound bar works better.
The major flaw was one I didn't notice until after a few days of watching - that the picture and sound are slightly out of sync. Once you see it, it is so annoying it becomes hard to watch. Reading the experiences of users in the Reddit Roku forums, it appears the only way to resolve this is to use the SPDIF input and set sound to PCM-Stereo, so I hope those are the options you wanted to choose. No? Then buy something else.
