To be honest, I didn't make it past ten minutes. It's so choppy. As images flash, there is a woman's voice reading quotes in first person from Ava's journal or letters. She's acting, but she's nothing like Ava, so it comes off as unnatural. Then we cut to a woman describing Ava Gardner's life...in French. While she is speaking in French, another woman's voice translates over hers at the same time. Then a male narrator takes over. From there all these voices switch back and forth, sometimes overlapping. It's messy, and a poor production choice. I just wanted to luxuriate in the stunning beauty of Ava Gardner and here a simple, well-narrated story of her life and career.
