We have a pretty open floor plan and instead of gating off a room, we purchased two of these gates and made "baby jail."
Pros: - sturdy (currently withstanding a 25 lb child attempting to climb/hang) - relatively easy to put together and easy to attach two units together - adjustable... easy to move the doors and each connection angle - the gate locks and babe could not open
Cons: - hard to tighten/untighten. the end of each panel has a knob at the top to secure. when opening the package, some were too tight, and i had to use a wrench. this left the plastic knob damaged. once we got the units set up, in order to fully secure from said 25 lb child, you really need to get them tight and again required a wrench and more marks in the plastic. seems like a metal screw with a cover or something would be a better solution. - the gate REALLY hurts if you slam the door into your foot, or you attempt to swing your leg over the top and hit it
generally, we like this solution. we have a 6x9 little nomad play mat and enclosed that in the baby jail. I wish there was a half panel add on since the measurements were a little off for our use. we also have tile floors and this unit really works best on a completely level floor. I wish there were adjusters on the bottom we could use to make the gate sturdy on slight changes in the floor.
