I bought this for use with a 2TB Fantom Greendrive USB 3.0 HDD, to work in conjunction with the short 3ft USB 3.0 cable that came with the drive. Unfortunately, when using this extension cable, the transfer rates I was seeing were the same as when I used a plain old USB 2.0 cable. The below test results are from CrystalDiskMark v.3 on three configurations with the same drive: 1. Using the original USB 3.0 cable that came with the drive, 2. Using the original USB 3.0 cable along with this extension cable, and 3. Using a regular USB 2.0 cable.

I'll be returning this cable and trying a longer 3.0 cable instead of an extension.

UPDATE: I instead purchased this USB 3.0 cable to run straight from the drive
StarTech.com USB3SAB6 6 Feet SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Cable A to B - M/M

The performance is much better than the extension cable.
