This is awful. Not the story, but the decision to flip back and forth between 3rd person narrative and 1st person PRESENT TENSE is mind bogglingly stupid. I’m about 15% in and I’m strongly considering abandoning it. And I LOVE the gray man series and have recommended it to many friends.
The gray man was a mystery man, an enigma, driven by his own code of honor. Now he’s a sniveling indecisive teenager, questioning his every choice. It’s like reading James Bond’s mind and finding out he’s thinking, did she buy that line? Should I have said something else? What happens if Blofeld has a lesbian henchman who’s in a relationship and won’t fall for my schtick?
The editor who approved this should be fired.
Do not buy this book. And go back to the earlier style, Mr. Greaney.
