My kids are fascinated by other languages and are particularly interested in Spanish. So, in our spare time I work through Spanish workbooks and worksheets with them to give them some exposure to the language, grammar, cultures, etc. We have worked through a couple of other books, such as The Complete Book of Spanish (Grades 1-3), which they were able to work through and enjoy. However, their motivation and enjoyment has been ground down to a halt by this incorrectly advertised book. While it promotes numerous exercises and puzzles, I would estimate that 80-85% of it is reading, explanation, and lists (See example page image attached). Also, the lists can be quite large and overwhelming. Don't get me wrong. We are big readers in our house, but we have reading books for that. Even books meant for older or adult learners would not have so much reading and memorization without exercises to give the student opportunities to interact with the learning material. I was extremely disappointed by this book, and felt that the company is extremely deceptive on its contents. I now have to go into rescue mode to recover my children's earlier interest in Spanish.
