Mermaid Moon
I am always looking for new authors and I enjoy series books. I have wanted to read Colleen Coble for some time as she is prolific and has quite a following. Perhaps Mermaid Moon was not a good choice.

Writing seemed to be geared to younger readers. The characters were not well-developed, reactions were often superficial and poor continuity made some situations confusing. The author's constant reference to eye color was unneccessary.

The main character, Mallory, tells everyone about the case, even strangers.

Some parts of this book were just silly. The sheriff suggests that Mallory‘s very normal parents may have been involved with the mob. The portrayal of Mallory's captor is shallow and totally lacking nuance, not scary at all. He left her with a gun and one bullet and said he would give her a week to starve to death or use the bullet to end it. What??? Then he sets fire to the place.

The author continually used the phrase, “The guy...”, “the guy...”, “the guy...” Why not “the stalker...”, “the prowler...”, etc.

This book has the feel of assembly-line writing.
