A romp with the author through the food and culture of Italy, the world of restauranteur Mario Batali, and the essence of what makes Italian food so great. This is a love story at heart, as the author explores the roots of what makes a restaurant great, a chef special, and how the confines of locality (locavore-ness) nurtures a cuisine that is at the same time simple, infinitely variable, and refined in expression. If you want to understand the soul of Europe’s original cuisine, this book will not disappoint!
