Future of Work's Remote Lifestyle

This was a great read that provided real insight into the digital nomad communities and lifestyles that exist. It provides a perspective of culture, society, AND business for the location independent lifestyle. Digital nomads are impacting companies and local communities and this book gives an intelligent aspect on the how and why. With the recent global changes of 2020, the context and research in this can also be a helpful lens into what remote work could mean for the future economy.

Cringe. Do we need to hear more about white upper middle class millennial people, wearing lulu-lemon, eating organic and vegan and trying to eat pray love, all the while gentrifying every place they go. Not what I was looking for. Geared mostly towards shallow people living in major cities making high wages and overpaying for things to keep up appearances.

I spent some time with the two authors and their research is thorough and compassionate. If the COVID pandemic has had any positive value, it has been to demonstrate to companies that many desk workers are actually more productive when they get to choose the venue in which they work. Now that many people have gotten a taste of workplace freedom and question the necessity of working in an office, this book provides examples that invite reflection on the benefits and challenges of working remotely not only thousands of miles away, but even a few blocks away in the local coffee shop. Highly recommended!

Amazing read!

Let’s be honest, freedom resides in being able to travel, having no boundaries or borders, and being able to live and work from anywhere in the world. This book does a great job capturing what it means to be a digital nomad and was released at such a weird time in the world of COVID where many of us are learning to operate outside of the office. This is a great read and really sheds lights on a new way of living.
