Wow! Is the only family appropriate word I can come up with to describe this purchase. This was brand new set, the plastic seal on the books had not been opened and the trunk for the books was in beautiful condition, my daughter is going to flip out when she opens this Christmas morning!

I bought these to replace my books I have had forever and got destroyed. Well I hadn't gotten a chance to read them until recently when I decided to reread them. I read the first (socerers stone) and second(chamber of secrets). I went to read the third, the prisoner of azkaban instead it was a chamber of secrets eith a prisoner of azkaban jacket overtop. So I go to look and my "goblet of fire" is actually another "order of phoenix". So instead of having books 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 I have 1,2,25,5,6,7. I am so angry right now! I wish I had looked earlier and discovered I had been screwed.

Description not accurate. These books are in rough condition not the condition they were advertised as . I can make them work for what I’m using them for but SoCalifornia books should have been more forthcoming about the condition of this book set. Books have water issues and warped binding.

The only reason I chose to buy this set over others was because it was listed as a "boxed" set, and the pictures show a wooden chest that house the books. In other reviews, people said the wooden box was nice. Unlike others, I did not receive a box for the books. The books are a gift, so I haven't actually unwrapped the books from their plastic to look at them, but I guess I should after reading other reviews. Very disappointing.

I found a hardcover copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone on top of my couch one day, I think a visiting family member had forgotten it, or something. I had heard a lot about Harry Potter but I had never seen the movies, or read any of the books. I randomly decided to sit down to read the first chapter of the first book to see what all the fuss was about, and a few hours later, I had finished reading the first book... in one sitting. I was hooked from the start! The world that J.K. Rowling has created is beyond imaginative, and the story is very captivating. I was left wanting to know more about the story after reading the first book. I now own all the books in the series. They're a great fun read, regardless of your age. I highly recommend them to anyone, regardless of your age! Read them! Or at least read the first one, and you probably won't want to stop at just that one!

Absolutely LOVE the brown chest these books come in. Super sturdy and well made. All of the books came neatly packaged inside of the chest. I also have the paperback collection of Harry Potter books which Ive been rereading over and over. I left these books in the original plastic and have it for display only. This review is for the hardcover set. The books are of course amazing. I've had a paperback set for years and couldn't pass up on the hardcover set when it was on sale (44% off). I would not have gotten them if not for the sale. The only reason it isn't a 5 star review is the "collectible trunk" it came with. It is kind of misleading in the description. I wasn't expecting something luxurious or grand, but it is literally just cardboard with a plastic "privacy lock".

As long as you aren't expecting some super fancy trunk and can get this set when it is on sale, I highly recommend it!

No Pictures!

I got exactly what the description states and pictures of the item show. However, I was and still am, very confused with all the reviews for the pictures being amazing since this collection has no pictures.

Seems like the reviews are for a completely different product. So I was very disappointed to learn that this product was not what all the reviews I read were for. I am debating returning but my son seems pleased never the less, so I'm torn. I guess it's my fault at the end of the day for not doing more research.

Rating on the actual product I cant really knock it. Books seem fine but the "chest" is pretty low quality.

So I was an idiot when I was a child and thought Harry Potter was dumb. I was wrong, obviously. Well long story short I didn't have hard copies of the books! So this worked out perfectly. All the books are hardcover and it's a great collection. Only two downsides:
1. The price (that's expensive for books)
2. The box. You would think that for the price the box that the books go in would be made of something other than cardboard.
In conclusion if you have the books, don't worry about buying these as an extra copy. If you don't have any of the books, then it's a good buy.
