Maggie the Magpie and Auggie the Moose have a strange and wonderful partnership. She eat annoying bugs that bother him and he (and his antlers) protect her from ravenous ravens. Auggie misses his brother and Maggie helps him on his journey to finding his brother. Together they have adventures with city traffic, bears, and fishing line entanglements, but through it all, their growing friendship is as important as the journey. Excellent artwork and nice story about friends being different from one another. I just bought a copy for a friend with a six-year-old reader, but I think it could be enjoyed by any age. I have a copy.
