I am reviewing this book as part of Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2018 (1/27/18) which is in its 5th year and was founded by Valarie Budayr from Jump Into A Book and Mia Wenjen from PragmaticMom. Our mission is to raise awareness of the ongoing need to include kids’ books that celebrate diversity in home and school bookshelves while also working diligently to get more of these types of books into the hands of young readers, parents and educators. This is a lovely book with a good message to never give up trying. I read it with my 6 year old grandson - who started playing soccer last year - who said it was an interesting book because the boy at first couldn’t kick the ball but then he could! He said it was a fun book and I’m sure all kids would enjoy.
