I wanted to like this book. Was excited enough that I purchased a hard copy and sat down to take notes. I was sorely disappointed.
Convoluted and circular logic that is mostly based in emotion. There aren't any strong points for proactive use, just ways for the general public to utilize feelings and generalizations to fight against projects.
If the reader isn't educated in the fields of planning and engineering, it may be a tough read. The narrative is a long slog to push through, even with considerable knowledge of planning and engineering. It lacks solid examples or explicit narratives. The author admits that the examples it does give sometimes represent a concocted cumulation of various experiences; not a single event or series of similar events.
1) If you want a book to emotionally fight your municipal government, this might help.
2) If you are looking for ways to improve traffic & planning in your region, look elsewhere.
3) If you are an engineer, this is a book filled with engineer bashing and confrontational emotion.
