This book is a great beginners book on knife fighting and hand to hand combat using techniques from fencing a combat sport that still has usefulness today as it did in its time Im no expert but the knife throwing is probably not a great way to fight an armed attacker but it's fun and the techniques in the book work if you follow them all in all a fun read and solid techniques.

Old school knife work. It's basically an Army training manual.

This is an excellent reprint of what I believe to be WWII or slightly later information and B&W photos. The bayonet and knife throwing sections may be irrelevant to most as other reviewers have noted. In WWII there may have been enough bayonets lying around to throw, but the modern knife carrier would not throw his weapon away. Throwing knives such as those made by Randall are indeed different, although the author says any knife will do.

The book is extremely well illustrated and the non-weapon hand to hand fighting scenes are particularly well done. Also, the use of a short baton is well explained.

I found this book useful and well worth the moderate cost.

Classic reference. Knife chapter is gold- a streamlined, quickly learned system that if practiced instead of criticised, shows its value. The K Bar was not the first choice for it, but it is what the troops were likely to have. Good solid basics aplicable today.

A good historic look at early combat methods; some of which can still be applied today. The photos in the hardcover version are a bit underexposed compared to the paperback version though, so they weren't as clear.

this book was written by somebody with a great imagination! Loaded with great tips and lots of thought, maybe just a little bit of embellishment in the stories because if anybody has had as many knife fights as this guy he should be rated as a Serial Killer. Maybe more like a Cereal Killer in real life but hey he took the time to write the book and paid to have it published so kudos to him. I especially liked the tip about holding the blade at an angle to fillet the arm from wrist to elbow, such a beautiful touch that I had to share it with the rest of my Navy Seal Team.
