This newest edition of the book is a must for anyone snorkeling and diving in Florida. It totally covers the state..telling the good and the bad but things change and its always best to do your own research to find out if where you are going is still as presented in the book. especaly the springs.some of which may not survive pollution attacks and the draw down of the water table

I bought this book as a way of finding new GPS coordinates in the Tampa area to dive. This book was pretty good, with a great description of each site. However, the GPS coordinates are pretty much run of the mill numbers, you'll find every local charter dive boat and fishing boat there, but not a bad place to start. Where the book starts to fall apart though is when it starts telling you, Place X is 1.7 miles on a 335 course north of point Y. That info. does you no good. When you are looking for a ledge the size of a small car, close doesn't count. Also, it seemed like all the more interesting sites were given in Loran numbers. Anyone who knows GPS knows that you can't accurately convert Loran to GPS, so those numbers are worthless for all but the 3 people in the world still using Loran.
Overall, a great book for people just learning a new area to fish or dive, but expect everyone in that area to have that number. Good book with good info. For those looking for more GPS numbers, try nauticalcharts.com... VERY GOOD MAPS.

lots of ads. Pretty expensive for a book that is clearly paid for by advertisements.

I love how my local dive stores in Bradenton pretend to know nothing about this book. Like dive sites are secret! I got this more for fishing GPS coordinates, but will use for diving as well. A must have. Very limited updates vs my previous version 6, but needed to move to GPS numbers so a must for me.

We've hit more than a dozen great sites--the best in the wonderfully clear Keys.
An excellent guide.
See Florida's springs now before ag and golf course fertilizer completely clogs them with algae! It's a real crisis, and the state won't do anything about it.

A must have for Florida Divers. Amazing amount of places to go to. Very informative and descriptive. I have previous editions going back 30 years. Ned is the man.

This book contains a plethora of information on Florida diving including springs, rivers, shore dives, and off-shore. There is a preface to each section describing local laws and regulations along with an overview of the diving. This is followed by brief descriptions of the dive sites along with contact info when applicable. The sections are organized geographically.
Because there is so much information in this book, it would be most useful for the Florida resident rather than a once or twice a year visitor. More detailed information on specific sites can be easily found on the internet.

Can't hate on this book, it's probably really helpful and awesome. I bought it for my future father-in-law to show him that I not only pay attention when he's talking, but can act on it by purchasing gifts that reflect his interests. He was very happy when he unwrapped it, and I know he has used it at least once, but beyond that I think this book has sat on the shelf.

this dive guide has maps and info, while its becoming a little dated since the last publication, its still the best book on the subject. the web sites are hit and miss, and you know how spotty internet can be on the road, so a book seems to be the best resource - as a diver who would drip, anyway!!! well done.

Are you kidding me?! This book is FULL of advertisements. If I wanted to purchase a magazine, I would have. The purchase price is FAR too high for a book that is obviously subsidized by the sale of dozens of ads; cost should have been 1/10th the asking price. While the content is useful, this is no bargain - due to all the ads. I believe Amazon should disclose to buyers when a book is full of ads. On the other hand, this book is way better than "Shipwrecks of Florida". Too bad there is not a better diving guide to Florida available.
