How customer reviews and ratings work

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

5.0 out of 5 starsI've read cover to cover many times

The agreements truly changed my life. I think of them every single day. This book puts emphasis on how to use the four agreements. I even bought extra copies to give out as "lenders" so I wouldn't lose my original one. I keep it in my night stand and refer back to it often.

1.0 out of 5 starsUninspired

I loved the 'Four agreements' and bought the 'Fifth agreement'. While I went through the 1st book in no time, it has been months of me starting the second book and putting it aside in disappointment. It is very wordy, goes in circle, there are contradicting statements within a single chapter, which can be frustrating. To be honest it is somewhat depressing and discouraging. I definitely expected more. Not sure if I can bring myself to buy another book written by the father/son duo. I am however very grateful for the Four agreements and will re-read it as prompted!

Having read the Four Agreements did not prepare me for this journey into the Fifth Agreement but I’m happy to have taken the trip. Simply what is true and what is the lie - knowing and choosing love, respect, and truth are keys to the ultimate freedom and happiness.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Lot of Food for Thought

After reading the Four Agreements, I was pretty excited to read The Fifth Agreement. I was a little disappointed, though, because a lot of the content rehashed the first four agreements, and not very much of the book was dedicated to the fifth agreement. However, it was helpful to review the first four agreements and see how the fifth agreement fit into the picture.

The book is split into two parts:

1. The Power of Symbols
2. The Power of Doubt

The five agreements are:

1. Be impeccable with your word.
2. Don't take anything personally.
3. Don't make assumptions.
4. Always do your best.
5. Be skeptical but learn to listen.

The authors talk about how everything we know is expressed in our understanding of the meaning of symbols. This meaning does not necessarily represent what is true about something but rather what we believe about something.

The whole process of self-mastery starts with self-awareness. You can't fix something that you aren't aware of or don't realize could be a problem. To truly master ourselves, we need to realize that we may believe in things that are not true. We need to question everything and try to get to the true meaning of things.

Some quotes I've highlighted in the book that I want to spend more time thinking about include:

• "You sacrificed your personal freedom to live according to somebody else's point of view."
• "The result of practicing the fifth agreement is the complete acceptance of yourself just the way you are, and the complete acceptance of everybody else just the way they are."
• "…every word in our mind has a meaning, but not because it's real, not because it's truth. It's just an agreement with ourselves and with everybody else who learns the same symbology."
• "The truth is that all of our knowledge, 100 percent of it, is nothing more than symbolism or words that we invent for the need to understand and express what we perceive."
• "The truth leads to self-mastery, to a life that's very easy; our distortion of the truth often leads to needless conflict and human suffering. Awareness makes all the difference."
• "The mastery of the human mind requires complete control of the attention—the way we interpret and react to information we perceive from inside us and outside of us."
• "Be skeptical is masterful because it uses the power of doubt to discern the truth."
• "Use the power of doubt to challenge every message that you deliver to yourself."

I'm nowhere near the point of mastering any of the five agreements, but having an awareness of them is helping me to be more conscientious of my thoughts and is helping me question some of my own beliefs and my self-doubt. I hope to continue working on these agreements, growing as a person, and improving my life by applying them.

There is so much in this book it's a disservice to rush through it. I gave it four stars because I disagree with a few points, but those are based off of the lies I believe not the authors. (read the book)
Very eye opening analogies and right up my alley and what where I currently am in life. I would say a must read if you read a The Four Agreements.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hidden treasure. If you are and educated atheist try it anyways. If you arr a spiritual-religious person...don’t think twice

I had to overcome my beliefs and once I decided to open the book randomly and start reading it from there instead of from the premises...I have to confess that I had an insight on life, energy, how to approach things. I really had to turn off my brain in order to read this, because, as an atheist, I was seeing too many spiritual quotes and too many times the name of God in there. But I could not believe that I had so many defenses. I wanted to be open to other people’s ideas. And so I kept reading it and if you skim the approximate references to science and forget about the feeling to be talked down as a 5 years old child, then you will be able to find a little treasure in this book.

As with many of these kinds of books, I found some of it to resonate with me and some of it to be a little off the mark. That’s okay, though; I really like what it made me think about, and that’s the whole point.

The 5th agreement brings it all together with a healthy dose of skepticism and reality. Becoming a 'seer' elusive but possible. Enticing concept being one's best self, being responsible for our actions while resisting the urge to let others judgments impact how I live my life.

4.0 out of 5 stars I consider "The Four Agreements", "The Voice of Knowledge" ...

I consider "The Four Agreements", "The Voice of Knowledge", and "The Fifth Agreement" to be somewhat of a "Ruiz trilogy". This one has a lot of material redundant on the other two (maybe a "negative"?) but goes deeper. It's the most profound of the three, I'd say.

I really enjoyed this book.I have the 4th Agreement & thought I would try this one.I like the Untethered Soul more as it has more depth. This book is a practical way to understand the concepts.I learned much of this in the Landmark Forum I attended before. This is a much cheaper way to learn some of the things.Appreciate the sharing of these ideas.
