Dr. Rigsby is honest and genuine. I watched his speech on Goal Cast and I listen to his podcast regularly. I face my own dark past, and I don't know why some things happened, for as long as they did. I learned in this book, something I already knew, but had forgotten. It is that God is sovereign, His plan, supreme. I'm reminded of the last section of the gospel of John, with Christ talking to Peter. Summarized, He says don't worry about the destiny of others, you follow Me! This is both harsh, and refreshing. As long as I stay grounded in Him, let His will work in my life, I can have Hope.

Not much here. One more of the "Squeeze another dollar out of Christians" genre. The meat here should have been written up as maybe a three-page essay for a magazine. Instead, a LOT of puff and repetition to fill out a small idea into a "book" to take advantage of name recognition and fame.

A lot of me, me, me. He had a perfect life. His wife died. He wept and overate and overspent for 20 years and no one offered him hope. Despite his perfect taste in upscale clothing and restaurants (detailed extensively in many pages) he wasn't happy. One day, BOOM. A beautiful woman came to one of his lectures. He dared to hope and fell in love. Resumed his perfect life. Cleaned his closet out of all the expensive clothes that don't fit any more. (a metaphor for cleaning out the bad thoughts from his mind and replacing with hope, in case you don't get it}

A few thoughts worth reading, but to my ear, very materialistic mindset underlying them, so little of spiritual value.

If I sound a little sour, I admit I am. I'm sick of the exploitation in this kind of book which sees to have been written by dictating for two weeks while he tied his ties.

I usually don't read self-help type books but Dr. Rigsby's message resonated with me. He is a wonderful, personable writer. I wish he had been one of my college professors because he is an incredible communicator. His message isn't an easy one to convey but he does a great job doing it. His story made me laugh, it made me cry and it gave me hope. Thank you, Dr. Rigsby. #hopestrong
