3.0 out of 5 starsA Misleading Ornament

*This is my initial review a few minutes and pages in*
The cover and overall look of the book is undoubtedly beautiful, but the content and especially the quality is lacking.
What is typed out onto this book is a revised, cliff notes version of The Art of War. Be aware that there are many variations of this book, and the image they provide in the product pictures of the page is more or less how the whole book goes. Although it’s not the most clear or obvious, at least the page displayed is an indication of what this book has to offer.
My biggest issue with this book is the misleading “deluxe” description and price point. Aside from the cover, the construction of this book is poor; the pages are very sticky and are themselves very low quality. This book - even if hardcover- shouldn’t be priced higher than $10.
The minor details of this book I noticed too. The bad part was that the measurements in the product picture and product description are different. The book is smaller than what me and most others expected, but is about correct with the product description (just from eyeballing it, haven’t measured precisely). I will say though the thickness of the book seems smaller than what the descriptions say.
On the top of the book there’s a 1/3in thick red velvet string attached that could be used as a bookmark. It stretches from the top of the page to about 1.5 out from the bottom of the book. This is a small detail that I always appreciate in any book, and is a nice touch that saves me from using a book mark or writing down the last page I was on at the beginning of the book.
Overall, if I had to summarize and compare this book to something, I would summarize it as this: it’s like a very good looking person with a lacking character; and the seller is like a proud parent trying to show off their child while hiding or lying about their weaknesses.
