I doubt I even need to review Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. If you haven’t heard of it I’m wondering how, and if you have, you’ve likely seen and enjoy it. This original in the series is by far the best. This is when the characters were best, the story the best, and the overall need to see it the highest. I do like some of the others, but nothing like this one...

Some of the best scenes are in this entry in the series.

Disney has done some other films based on attractions, but Pirates is the one - it is by far the most successful and worthy a view. Not just Johnny Depp’s outstanding Captain Jack Sparrow, but the entire cast, world, and story have taken this ride and turned made it even better.

If you don’t see any of the others that’s fine (some are good though), but try not to miss this high seas adventure!

Not what I expected

This could have been a terrific film, as the Jack Sparrow character is a wonderful creation. However, the background noise is so loud that you lose the dialogue and, consequently, the thread of the story. I also tired of the constant fighting scenes that dominated the film. I love pirates, in general, but this was no Captain Blood. There has to be a romantic factor in the film, or the characters are just dirty and gross. Errol Flynn, we miss you. Olivia de Havilland, you were very beautiful.

I LOVE this movie. An instant classic. I was excited to add it to my digital library with bonus features at a great price. But if you, like me, love bonus features, you will be disappointed. There's hardly any of the awesome bonus features that came on my original DVD. At least you do get the bloopers, but you don't get any of the making of documentaries, and little to no actor interviews like you got on the DVD. Big bummer.

The first movie in a great franchise. The action was stellar, as well as the acting, costuming, SFX, etc. We have truly memorable characters. I am glad that Disney made this film. I remember the Pirates ride as a child, it was fun, even though it wasn't an E ticket ride (who recalls the tickets?)
