A large proportion of product reviews, whether positive or negative, are subjective declarations of personal tastes that are either met or not. Likes and preferences are debatable. What is not debatable is the fact that the grinder that I purchased failed to operate 10 weeks after I first started using it. Dead, nothing, zero.
I had been grinding a measured amount of beans sufficient for one mug-full of coffee daily. I consistently cleaned the grind chamber after each use and thoroughly cleaned the bean hopper, burr grinding plates and the grind release area once weekly.
This product, The Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill, has long been criticized for:
-Noisy during operation: Short of taking a reading with a decibel meter, I found it to be unacceptably loud. But that is my opinion.
-The grind size is inconsistent on all settings: Not that much of a problem for me but again, subjective on my part.
-The grinding times are not dependable: Even when set for the longest grinding time, the burr mill would routinely stop before completely grinding the 35g of beans that I had pre-measured. Since I never relied on this feature to begin with, that this function routinely failed to operate correctly was an annoyance but not an important feature for me.
The mediocre performance of this machine gave me little user satisfaction but I was at least able to make a decent cup of coffee with the fresh grounds that it so ineptly produced. Despite this machine's considerable number of flaws, I would not have reviewed this product had it at least continued to work. I would have lived with the sub-entry-level-grinder deficiencies that plague this machine which at this price point are not unreasonable to expect.
That the Cuisinart DBM-8 Supreme Grind Automatic Burr Mill utterly failed after such a short period of light usage and regular care and that so many others reported having had a similar experience, are the facts that I cannot overlook. These are facts that I believe to be worthy of your consideration before making this purchase my friends.
