My significant other drinks his coffee cold, so I got this lid so I could put the Chemex in the fridge to chill after I've had my cup(s) of hot coffee in the morning (I had been covering it with plastic wrap and hated the waste). The lid is flat and doesn't cover the pour spout, so there is still plenty of space for fridge odors and such to get into the Chemex. I also find that just leaving the filter in the Chemex after the water drains through (and lifting it gently to pour) does a better job keeping the coffee warm than this lid does. Overall, it was definitely an unnecessary purchase and it seems like they should be able to make a lid that can cover the pour spout better.
