Took it camping. Bugs love me, so I usually am doused in some chemical based bug spray. I was skeptical, but decided to try this anyway. It worked. I didn't get one bite. Amazing! I'll be using this from now on.

I bought this off great reviews... boy I was wrong! I was looking for something safer for my toddler and this was the one (so I thought). I have always wore OFF brand and it works great. I started using this since my daughter was and it is really something awful! Sure there is no harmful chemicals in it but it DOES NOT keep mosquitos away. I get more bites wearing this than if I had no spray on at all . My daughter is always ate up with bites too! Not only does it not repel insects, the spray itself is white and thick. I have to spray us then try to rub it in, but it wipes off very easily. Smells like we are wearing a citronella candle. See the photos I have included for helping describe this stuff. Avon brand skin so soft works better than this. So that's what I've changed to until I find a replacement. Very disappointed and DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Giving this a 2 since it is deet free and uses all natural ingredients. Sad to say I really wanted to use a product that was natural but this just does not work. I would even go so far as to say that I think it attracted the bugs worse. I put this on before my sand volleyball games twice. The first time I was still bitten a few times. I attributed this to me not rubbing it on every inch of my non covered skin. When I use this the second time, and was careful to rub it in over all uncovered skin it was worse. I received approximately 20 bites yesterday. It was driving me absolutely crazy! I literally sat out and put a towel over my legs as I continuously slapped and killed bugs that bit my arms.
I wish I could return this and get my money back. :(

This stuff smells much better than the other ones that have deet. It says that you should reapply every 3 hours. I gues that would be the case if you didn't do anything but just laid around for that time. But for my wife and I, it wore off after about one hour. It was moderately effective during that hour as well. We had a plethora of bites still after our honeymoon.

I've had pretty good luck with this bug armor. I was looking for a DEET alternative...I'm not one of those crazy kooks that worries about every little chemical, but I do know that DEET is straight up a dangerous poison. I've experimented a bit with botanical anti-bug candles and had reasonable success, so I figured I'd give this a shot. I've tried this stuff out in some pretty gnarly bug patches, mostly skeeters, and have definitely noticed effectiveness on par with DEET type treatments. From some pretty extensive experience outdoors, I don't think there's a 100% solution out there short of covering all bits of skin...but this at least serves as a pretty good deterrent to those irritating buggers. I've even found it has effectiveness on other bugs, like flies, horse flies and other pesky fliers. It smells pretty strong, but I wouldn't say it smells bad...just noticeable and pungent. Overall, I much prefer using this stuff and it's proven it's value in my book. Would recommend.

Despite being natural it still definitely smells like a strong insect repellent, and worked just as well. If you can handle the smell, it was a life saver on some hiking trips by the water. I did tend to sweat it off a bit, but if I reapplied during our breaks I ended up being fine. The one thing to watch for is that it is really runny and if you, like me, put some in a smaller container for your backpack, you have to be careful to not accidently dump it all out since the liquid moves fast. All in all, I feel better about putting this on my skin and still seemed to do at least some damage with the bugs.

This didn't work at all for me. The mosquitoes completely ignored it and attacked me like normal. The smell is absolutely horrible, I could hardly bear it, and I couldn't wait to get into the shower and get it off of me. The smell actually made me have a bit of a hard time breathing, and I certainly didn't want to breathe through my nose. I'm very disappointed - I wanted to be responsible and use a repellent that would be safe near my animals, and safer for me and the environment, but it wound up just being a stinking waste of money.

Works well only problem is the smell. I would expect it to smell once applied, but I have it double bagged in ziplock baggies and I can still smell it. Kind of overpowering. But hey it does keep the bugs away, and I don't feel as bad as using it because it is Deet free.

We use this in conjunction with Repel 94109 Lemon Eucalyptus Natural Insect Repellent, 4-Ounce Pump Spray during trip to Denali National Park. If anyone's been there you know how many and enormous the mosquitos are out there. I don't think there's a spray that is 100% effective. I was skeptical of the natural deet-free ingredient but it worked very good. Over the course of the 5 day trip I only received 3 bites and we were outside on average 8 hours each day. I used this on primarily on my neck and face area whereas the other product I used towards the lower part of the body. I certainly would use and purchase again.

I spend a lot of time camping in mosquito infested areas, and a good insect repellent is a must have item. I stopped using any products with DEET about 30 years ago. Call me crazy, I just don't believe that stuff is healthy for people.
I have tried just about every 'natural' mosquito repellent on the market. This one is by far my favorite. I picked it up on a whim in REI just before a two week trek into Glacier National Park and I was amazed at how well it worked. Needless to say I sought this product out again and found a much better price for it here on Amazon. It is safe to say that I am now a loyal Herbal Armor customer.
I would say this product is comparable to Burt's Bees repellent, but in my experience this seems to work a bit better. This is the only natural repellent that even compares to the DEET based products for effectivity, but this has the added benefit of not coating your skin with man-made chemicals that will probably stay in your system for the rest of your life. Completely plant based - it doesn't any better than that!
