I was replacing a Melitta pour-over that came with my 2-mug Melita pot. It was dropped and shattered, so I decided to replace it with this one, which is a little less expensive than the Melita one. I do not mind the weight of the item because I am pouring over a small coffee pot and not a mug or a cup. I bought the #4 size to use with #4 Melita filters that I already had on hand. It works beautifully and the coffee tastes perfect. I have made about a dozen pots of coffee with this pour-over and I have not had one single instance of the filter tearing. There have been no grounds in my coffee. Part of it may be my technique. First, I make sure that the filter is sitting properly and is right down at the bottom of the pour-over cone. I start out with pouring a very thin stream of boiled water around all the grounds, in order to get them wet and a bit compacted. When they are all wet and have settled at the bottom of the filter and the cone, I can increase the amount of water I pour into it. This makes the BEST coffee! I am glad I purchased it.
