An A+ "Crossword-Type" Word Game!

I LOVE Word Slinger. You can play in a timed or untimed mode. You are given a list of words and must form crossword puzzles. Each puzzle requires you to make a certain number of word crosses (you can earn extra points for making new words); and the puzzles get increasingly harder as you move along. You will begin to get blocker squares and other challenges as you move up the levels. You also have the option to keep playing after you reach your goal for more points.
I highly recommend this addictive word game. Thumbs up!

Nothing like the PC game! This is a game of 'SCRAMBLE'! The tiles are scrambled and you have to unscramble them forming words. If you are expecting an app for your phone or tablet that is just like the one at home on your pc or laptop - then you are in for a big disappointment!

This word program recognizes a long list of strange two-letter combinations such as SI, UM, DE, but does not recognize common and valid two-letter combinations such as TV; DA; PC; RN; Hon; Sir; Mr; MD; ER. It is also disappointing that it will not let you retry the exact same puzzle; pushing "retry" gives you a totally different puzzle. If these features were fixed, it would be a very fun game.

I played it on my Mac PowerBook - now I can't any more because it only likes windows. I agree with the reviewer that there ARE inappropriate words in it - that is to say things that are not really words, but other than that it was fun to play and quite addictive. I MISS IT. I really hate that something I liked so much has been taken away.

UPDATE - I just left a long comment in lieu of amending my review - but decided to revise it anyway - upping the star rating to 4 because I was able to buy and to download the game - not on my own (mac) computer but onto a friend's PC that I have access to.

I HAD asked whether it could play on an Android tablet - and many nice people respond, only to say they had no idea, as they play it on a pc ... so I still do not know if it will play on my non-Mac tablet which apparently is also not a pc - it's just a smart something, and I won't take a chance on trying to load a game that might make it crash. But as long as my BF will let me play on his pc, I am happy.

The reason I don't give this game a 5-star rating, as much as I love it, is because if it's dicey dictionary - as if it were developed for English speakers by non-English speakers who apparently just make up words for the game and reject many actual, real, and legitimate words that can be found in countless common sources. Once you give up getting frustrated over the nonsense made-up words and moaning over the exclusion of many real ones, and just accept that what you see is what you get, it is still a lot of fun to play. But I still cannot give top stars to the questionable source of playable words for this game.

Creator Didn't Do Homework

I do play this game a lot as it is fun - it could have been wonderful if the creators had taken a little time to study the dictionary. There are so many legitimate words that are not accepted. They are not uncommon words either which makes it very frustrating when contemplating word play. So you place a word which connects to another word thinking about the word you can play after that. The problem is that words are rejected which throws everything off. And, there is no undo button. It's a shame because, as I said, it's a good game, but could have been great!!

Quickly this game became a favorite. Resembles good old Scrabble but more amuzing with the word list selection that you choose from and the amount of special squares on the playing board that reward different aids like discarding from the word list, hint chances, word count goal multipliers along with the normal points multipliers. Each new board requires you to reach a very attainable word count goal of forty words which really fills the board. Great for hours of fun. I only use the untimed mode but for the pressure fanatics there is a timed mode but good luck with that!

Its a mind challenge to create words for the most points and has two levels. One that is timed and one that you can take your good old time on. I would definitely recommend this game!

This is one of the best pc word games I've played since the original Upwords by Hasbro. It differs from Upwords in that it gives the player words to place in a crossword puzzle. It's quick, but not always easy. However, it would be more fun if it could handle more than one player (playing indivually) and if it showed the player(s)high scores. The way it is, you never know how many levels you previously achieved before you gave up and started over, and you can't compare your high scores. Also, the only way to start a new game is to use the "back" arrows. Writers: Give us another one like this, with improvements!
