4.0 out of 5 starsGreat overall

Overall, this is a great product and allows you to take stunning underwater photos (way better than a waterproof point and shoot) It does take some getting used to though, and it's main drawback (as has been noted by other reviewers) is , because of the unneccesary hard plastic casing over the lens area, the lack of the ability to move the zoom ring on the barrel of a standard SLR lens. This drawback in itself will affect sales. Dicapac should do two things. Keep this model for people who want to use it for large zoom lenses-where you can move the zoom- and make another model which has a soft plastic casing over the lens area which would allow the zoom to be used on a smaller standard lens. I I sympathise with the guy who said he had a leak with hi product but I think this is very rare other wise there'd be lots of such stories on the internet (which there isn't. I did some research before buying this) But in general this is essential for ocean shots, swim shots, pool shots, rain shots, etc etc. A slightly flawed but excellent product, and it's a great price too

1.0 out of 5 stars Did not perform well.

This is an underwater case... Or at least it is supposed to be...

I performed a check on the case as was instructed. I filled up my bathtub, placed a bunch of tissue in the case so that any bit of moisture would show... I submerged the case for 15 minutes, pulled it out and not a single drop! So I allowed it to air dry, placed it back carefully into the box and shut it until I was going to do my underwater shoot.

the depth of the pool that was set up at its deepest was 9ft. More than shallow enough for the 15ft max depth.

15 minutes into the shoot my camera shuts off (Canon rebel series), I pull it out of the case and the case was filled with about an inch of water at the bottom!!! So, while the 8 models that I had arranged waited I ran to a local camera store, spent $50 on a cheap waterproof point and shoot and finished the photoshoot.... results were.......tolerable.... and would have been much cheaper than loosing my only DSLR...

This case did not work for me! Perhaps it was a bad case. Perhaps somehow in all my careful ways I managed to damage the case(I doubt it, I was VERY VERY CAREFUL!). But I do not think that the seals are actually made to be submerged.....at all!

If you are looking for a case that will survive and excel while in rainy or thunderstorm conditions, this is your case... if you want a case to go underwater.... keep looking.... this case is too dangerous to put an expensive camera in....

My camera is now dead and there is NO REFUND FOR CAMERAS even if ALL DIRECTIONS WERE FOLLOWED!

I was very much hoping for something more than what I got.

This product is amazing ! I have used it in our in-ground pool and the shots I got of my 4 year old are priceless! I test the bag before each use to make sure then I open the bag and place the camera. Once in its very easy to use your controls and zoom caint wait for our next beach vaca!

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful but clunky.

It does its job rather admirably, but it's difficult to maneuver around, especially in action shots. The finger pockets let you change the zoom on the lens, somewhat, but the bag can get in the way of the shot. Still, it allows you to get pictures in wet environments at the fraction of the price of a typical DSLR plastic cover.

1.0 out of 5 stars DiCAPPac Waterproof case

Just received item and have only given it "swimming pool" tests todate. Using it with a Canon EOS XTi

Upsides:
- Excellent picture clarity
- Reasonably water tight (see below)

Downsides:
- Extremely difficult to manipulate the camera lense rings making manual focusing and zooming effectively impossible.
- A bit bulkier than I would prefer although this is likely true of any dry bag.
- Seems to have a chronic, extremely low level moisture seepage into the case no matter how carefully I seal it. Not a large problem however I am considering returning the case for another try. As with any of these cases, I would recommend not using it for anything more demanding than snorkeling -- and then with caution.
- Difficult to compose shots with viewfinder-only camera such as the XTi. Trying to see through the mask, the bag and small viewfinder is pushing it a bit. Can be done but pretty marginal.

All-in-all OK for the price but you may want to consider paying a bit more for a low end underwater camera. You get what you pay for.

Update:
Finally got the case out for ocean testing. Pretty much confirmed what I had already guessed. Bulkiness, difficulty in using the lens adjusting rings and poor vision through viewfinder-only camera make this product a poor purchase choice. Save your money and buy an underwater camera for snorkeling.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money!

I bought this camera case to do some photos when sailing. My Canon XTi fit very well in the case and controls were easily adjustable. Then I went to do a try and after one single use the lens protector was totally scratched and now it is impossible to use this device. The idea seems to be very good, but the reality is that this product is made from very poor quality materials. Given the fact that I live in an oversea country I did not reclaimed but my recommendation is DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY buying this product.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bulky, but kept the camera dry and clean.
Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on September 16, 2008
Our camera stayed dry, but it was difficult to use because of it's bulkiness. It was a great to have on the beach to keep the sand away from the camera. We ended up buying a disposible underwater camera while on vacation instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars At about £20 it was a third of the price for what looked like essentially the same thing

I wanted one of these to be able to use a dslr to take photographs on a racing yacht. So not underwater, but at times very very wet. In summary it sort of works, but you have to be patient in changing zoom settings, forget about changing focus, and it does compromise image clarity. But it does work and the image quality compromise was livable with for me. Previously I tried the Tteoobl 20M Underwater Waterproof Case. At about £20 it was a third of the price for what looked like essentially the same thing. However it is not so strongly constructed, doesn't allow you to remove the front lens element (to grab a quick fully clear image-remember I am not underwater), and worst the compromise in image quality was unacceptable for me. Neither of these products use glass, however as you just look through the Tteobal you can see distortions as the image is not flat. Both have puppet style finger stubs to control bits of the camera. The Tteobal's ones seem to be the same thickness as the outer casing and make it difficult to use them. This one however uses a much lighter grade of plastic sheet and you can do some controlling of detailed buttons.
In summary this is great if you are not pixel peeping and are interested in lower res/wide angle images. The Tteobal is probably okay for simple video (whose low resolution will be less impacted by the quality of the front plastic lens.) It is just a real pity none of these lower cost manufactures use glass!
