5.0 out of 5 starsOn Par With My Voigtlander Adapter - Great Value
Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2014
I sold a Voigtlander 75mm lens on ebay and promised the buyer it would come with an adapter. I did not want to give away my Voigtlander adapter so I bought this. I believe my Voigtlander adapter cost about $50. However, it performs the same exact way as this cheaper Fotodiox model.

This Fotodiox adapter fit my lens well and mounted to my Leica M8 just fine. As far as I could tell focus was accurate and the correct viewfinder lines came up. The Voigtlander model may have been slightly smoother but this only cost $12.00. The only problem I can see with this item is possible sample variation. Since this is a cheaper product, you're more likely to catch a bad copy than from a company like Voigtlander.

Verdict: Try this out before purchasing a more expensive adapter.

1.0 out of 5 starsFramelines way wrong, hard to take off
Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2024
Very disapointing. I tried to adapt the Leica Summar 50mm f2 M39 from 1937, the frame lines I get maybe correspond to 35/135, or perhaps 28/90, I see the bigger frame almost ocuppying the whole viewfinder in my Leica M 262, and the other frame very small. Totally different than the frame lines it shows with my Summicron 50mm f2. Really misleading, and the other problem is the sharp edges, you get to know them once the start trying to dismount the lens from the adapter....I had tu ear a leather globe and find the way to hold this lens while trayong to dismount the adapter, ver worried because this old lens is collapsible. Better save for the Voigtlande, I suppose is much better quality, maybe it works! To complete this review, I got to tell you that I order the 3 ser of adapters, one came cofused (a C/Y to Canon EOs...), and the other, maybe is the order (28/90). I cannot return these products because a nephew bought them for me while visiting the USA. Terrible experience!

4.0 out of 5 stars Rough but works

The edges are not polished well, and it takes a bit effort to fit it into my leica m camera. First it didn't click into position, I had to mount it on and off to loosen it and then it can click into position.

Let's just say, it takes some effort but works.

Just picked this up to attach my Leica 50mm Summitar f2 to my Leica M9 and M5, fits and works well! 50mm framelines do come up when attaching. Will probably pick up another just in case I lose it!

I was hesitant to buy this adapter based on the other review here... However, when i got mine, it worked just fine. Did not seem abnormally tight to me, and is pretty well machined and designed. And not to mention that i saved a ton of money by not buying a leica branded adapter.

Works great for attaching an LTM Canon 50mm lens to a Leica M2 bayonet mount. Focus is exact as tested. As other users have pointed out, it does have sharp edges and feels like cheap aluminum. This is not an issue for me as it will never come off the lens again and I rarely take the lens off the camera. I do wonder about corrosion having it attached to both brass and steel, though. Time will tell.

Cheap but gets the job done. This is metal just like the $45 ones you see that are name brand but I have shot with this for awhile now and haven't had a single problem with it using 35 and 50mm lenses. Why spend boat loads on the others if this works just fine.

3.0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for, though value is good
Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2015

The adapter is pretty much as pictured. Construction is machined and polished aluminum alloy. While not flimsy, it is not as substantial as more expensive stainless steel or plated brass units. Straight out the box most of the machined edges were sharp. The first thing I did was to dress the edges with emery paper to avoid cuts. The fit seems accurate to the M-mount, though the first several times mounted onto the camera (Voigtlander Bessa R3M) the adapter did not not fully engage the retention latch leaving the lens free to rotate off. This self corrected (not usually a good thing) and since I found no evidence of shards or obvious damage to adapter or camera, I decided that ignorance is bliss. I contacted another owner and confirmed that they had the same experience. Aside from the light build and sharp edges, my only real complaint would be that the threads are cut such that the focus index on the lens is 30+ degrees from top center depending on lens.

Were it not for the low price, I would have rated it no better than two, but at this price point ($12.98 USD), the value is there.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works as it should, but handling is atrocious

It works as it should, but with some caveats
1. For one, they aren't been sanded down, and mine cut me almost as soon as it was taken out of the box
2. The top of the lens will not match the top of the camera, there was about a 30 degree offset
3. It is next to impossible to take this off of the lens
It does, however, do its job. When attached to a Jupiter 8 and then put onto the front of my Leica M2, it brought up the 50mm framelines and focused correctly
It would recommend this with reservations, but only if you have no other options
