Did not help with weight issues
Reviewed in the United States on February 17, 2019
I started feeding my overweight dog this food in late 2018 due to issues with other foods having peas and potatoes. And a facebook group I was in concerning the about issues about peas, etc being linked to DCM heart disease in dogs, was pushing this brand of food as a great food. After several months of feeding this food at a much smaller amount than called for she not only has not lost any weight but gained weight. Her old food was higher in calorie and fat count but much, much lower in carbs, so she is getting fewer calories with Pro Plan, but more carbs and is gaining weight, Going back to the Earthborn Venture and Natures Logic. The calories may be higher, but she lost weight eating the same amount in cups I have been feeding in Pro Plan. This food may work for some dogs, but just like humans carbs can be an issue. Giving 2 stars because she actually loves the food, but because it does not help with weight loss, isn't actually a good thing. I love bread, but we all know too much bread is not great for your waistline. When Purina figures out how to lower the carb count I may return to their brand, but not until then.
