3.0 out of 5 starsThese are sproutable but....

The company stated to me these were sproutable and were black chia only. These are sproutable but many of them do not actually sprout at all. Also I decided to go ahead and grow a a few of the sprouted seeds. I know they're not marketed for that. I have did this twice with this brand. There ARE atleast two different varieties of chia in this brand. I have two different plants. The brand I used before I only had the one type the original black chia. Those wont flower or go to seed in my zone 6 unless I start them extremely early. I grow them to use the leaves for tea and the rest for composting. In my opinion based on flowering and seed production time at least one is absolutely a hybrid variant because it produced flowers, seeds and way too early at that. One has purple tinged leaves and stalks which I have never seen on an original heirloom black chia plant before.. The leaves shape match so it is a chia variation.
As far as eating them the taste is fine but I probably won't purchase again after the results I mentioned from growing them.
