Not sure which one will be my pick -3 stars until I try them all!

Clearly I’m desperate. One of these HAS to work. I didn’t know which one to buy, so I spent $30 and for five different kinds. All I know is those big fat beige ones hurt my ears.

Seems every one is different and reviews weren’t very helpful, but I thought these side-by-side comparisons might help someone only have to buy one instead of five!

UPDATE 9-11-2019 Mack's Dreamgirl Soft Foam were the ones for me. The purple ones were small and seemed hard. The green ones were too big and hurt. The other pink ones were "okay."

They work but they are small.

These are perfectly functional but small. Clearly they are designed for smaller than average people. I will upload a photo of them. I prefer the larger purple earplugs. In addition they are also smooth and soft. Also I found that because these are so much smaller they can be hard to insert correctly and removing them is tricky.

I think these are decent earplugs. I use them primarily for events with loud music and riding my motorcycle. I find regular sized earplugs of this variety to be incredibly painful to have in for more than a few minutes. These are okay. Not perfect. I'll eventually transition to custom fit because these do inflate awkwardly sometimes and give high pressure on certain areas of my inner ear sometimes.

Btw, I'm a guy. I have small ear canals like plenty of "manly" men do. Don't know why these have to be aimed at "women."

I wear earplugs to sleep every single night as my husband's snoring is unbearable, and after many years of experimentation, I only buy Mack's. I've tried cheaper ones and they get stiff and uncomfortable to wear and your ear can actually get sore. These are soft and feel comfortable in the ear. This specific one is marketed more towards women (I am a woman), but I really have not noticed a major difference between this and their Ultra (tan) earplugs that would make me need one over the other.

The pink ones definitely are more comfortable and softer. The way you put these in is you roll them between your thumb and pointer finger and then insert into your ear and they re inflate inside your ear canal and it is easier to do that to the pink ones and they feel better in your ear than the tan ones. The tan ones block out more noise though, but I sleep next to the world's loudest snorer and the difference isn't enough for me to really worry about. For moms this could be a plus if you need to be able to hear a child crying. I like them because my husband's snoring becomes background noise, but my dog can still wake me up if she needs to go out. The pink ones show earwax alot less than the tan ones.

Like I said I use them every night, and I reuse a pair for a few nights then toss them, so being able to buy 50 pairs at a time at a good price is awesome. They also come in a little plastic container with a flip top lid, which is nice to store them.

One thing to keep in mind, for some reason my dog LOVES to eat these, so keep them away from dogs! They do seem to "pass through" the dogs pretty easily though.

One tidbit if anyone is thinking about wearing these to sleep every night...you will need to start showering in the morning. I use to shower at night and ended up getting a TERRIBLE ear infection, so bad I couldn't hear out of one ear. The earplugs trap moisture in your ear and that becomes a breeding ground for bacteria, so shower in the morning so there is not additional water.

Pink, purple, or tan?

I have now tried 3 types of Mack's earplugs: tan regular, purple slim-fit, and pink dreamgirl. Hopefully this information will help others who are trying to find the right ones:

Tan: As shown in the picture below, these are slightly longer and wider than the purple/pink earplugs. Definitely have the absolute best noise reduction, and would work well if you are sleeping with a snorer. However,they are quite painful to wear all night long if your ears are relatively small (like mine). My husband loves these, and they fit him perfectly.

Purple: Slightly shorter & narrower than the tan earplugs. They are easier for me to fit in my ear, but they let in slightly more sound. Everything is muffled (think very soft background noise), but not blocked like the tan earplugs. They would probably not completely block a snorer near you, but they would reduce the sound enough to be fairly tolerable (maybe imagine the sound of waves on a beach). These are more comfortable, but they still can make my ears sore by morning.

Pink: Same length as the purple, but slightly narrower. Least noise reduction of the 3. Things like neighborhood dogs barking, or a fan in the room become background noise. They would probably be completely ineffective blocking snores. However, if I were a mom of young children, I would be confident that I could hear their cries during the night. They are by far the most comfortable for me.

Thank goodness for the top reviews on here helping me sort out what to buy.

I suffer from too things: a husband that snores louder than I ever thought possible, and small ears. I've tried countless ear plugs during the course of our relationship, and these are, hands down, the most comfortable.

...but they aren't the most effective. I always look at the pr rating and these were among the highest, but they really don't cancel out as much noise as others with the same rating. Probably because they're smaller so they do not expand to cover as much room as others do. This is also why they're so comfortable and I don't wake up with the ear pain I've experienced with others.

Basically, life sucks because you can't have it all. I either get optimal noise reduction and discomfort, or some noise reduction and total comfort. I'm happy that these aren't so constricting that I hear my heartbeat, but after I inevitably lose all 50 pairs to my cats colon, I'll probably just rebuy the green ones I've been finding at Walmart (more expensive because I can't buy them in bulk, but they really offer the best balance of comfort and noise reduction).

These are the absolutely best earplugs I have found for small ears. For me, even the B005YUW7A2 Mack's slim-fit ones are painful after only a few minutes. I thought I would never find comfortable earplugs. These block sound extremely well for me. I read a few reviewers that said they were comfortable but didn't block sound. For me, they do an extremely good job blocking sound. I have good hearing, but with these in cannot hear the fan in my bedroom or any of our roosters crowing outside (which frequently wakes me even with a fan and/or a noise machine running). My husband tried some on for the heck of it, and they didn't block much noise for him (he uses the regular Mack's Ultra Soft Foam Earplugs ), so your milage may vary.

For reference on the size of my ear canals, I used to buy the Earplanes for Kids, but I did not use them for sleeping because they stuck out past my ear and they were painful after a while. If this sounds like you, I think these will work great for you.

I was searching for the right earplugs when my spouse started snoring to the point of waking me up at night.

I initially tried the Mack’s brand green (standard) size which worked great, but I woke up with sore ears in the morning.

These ear plugs are the perfect size and this container is not only the best value, but great for the bedside. The container with the pop top is great! I love the ease of opening the top to get a new pair.

I selected this specific ear plug because of the star on the bottom of the earplug. This seems to help with the compression for insertion and removal.

Trust me - these are the ones to get!

I used to love Sleep Pretty in Pink until they changed their product, then I started using Mack's Slim (purple one) and even though it was hurting tiny bit was a good replacement. And got this one when I saw they came up with a similar packaging and promise (women's). I don't know how to explain but weirdly it doesn't work. It expands and hurts but doesn't really block the noise. I am writing this after waking from noise and ordering back the purple Mack's slim in the middle of the night. Just my 2 cents.
