Testing the warranty on this bag
on April 6, 2016
I've owned Eagle Creek bags for years, I had a similar one to this one before it, and also have a 26" and 29" bag for longer trips. The others are all amazing. This particular bag replaced a bag 22" Eagle Creek in a discontinued model that I had owned more than 10 years, without issue, the bag was like new despite hundreds of trips, checked and carry on (but mostly carry on). That bag ended up in a room that had bedbugs and needed to be disposed of so I bought the Adventure as a replacement and have had this particular bag for 3 years, probably 40-50 trips by air, all carry on except for maybe 5 times I've been forced to check it when there's been no overhead space (never because it's too big, this one always gets by that check). The Adventure 22 has been a disappointment. Right away I started having trouble with the zippers, they were hard to pull and got stuck, it's almost as if the zipper pulls are on backwards. Then the wheels started sticking, and sometimes I need to use brute force to pull it when the wheels don't turn. Now there are little screws that keep popping out of the handle, and I screw them back in when I get home, but they keep working their way out again. And I weighted it empty, and it weighs more than 10 lbs now. I've noticed it feeling heavier over the years (thought I was just getting older), but it actually is! It's almost as if the fabric is absorbent or something, but this bag has added more than 2 lbs of dirt/weight without looking noticeably dirty. I'm trying a new Osprey Ozone while its out for repairs since it will be at least 3 weeks. I'll update this with results of the repair, but it seems like this bag will always be heavier no matter how they repair it and my days as a loyal EC customer may be over.
