Read these reviews before purchasing! I have had a similar experience to a few others on here who have used their Silpat+aluminum pan for the first use at a low temperature and experienced Silpat melting. I used my 7-7/8" x 10-7/8" Silpat with a Nordic Ware 1/4 sheet aluminum pan (both brand new) at 350 F for 30 minutes to heat up some eggs in a hole, and discovered when I took the pan out that the Silpat had melted onto the pan. I'm very disappointed; needless-to-say I'm returning both. It is possible that the Silpat sold here are 1) old, 2) stored in inappropriate conditions that ruin their material properties, or 3) cheap knock-offs. While I've had many great experiences shopping with Amazon, this was not one. Very, very disappointed.

Amazon!!! I trusted you. These are absolutely fake. I own Silpats and these are half as tick, have no texture, are greasy when they get hot. I wanted to fit an odd sized pan so I was elated when I saw this size. Tragic failure. I should have read more comments. You should not sell blatantly fake items. Loss of confidence.

Conflicting Feelings/Conflicting Reviews

This is not my first time using a Silpat mat. In years past, I've used their cookie sheet mat a few times with no issues. Because of this previous positive experience, I decided to purchase this toaster oven mat.

I've been using this mat every day for 10 days. I followed the cleaning instructions to a T. After day 3, there were already some noticeable brown stains appearing around the mat. I gave up on their "wipe with a soft sponge" approach and tried deep scrubbing with detergent, to no avail. Now there is an ever-growing deep brown staining all around the mat--except in the center where I actually place the meats I cook.

So far, the temperatures I've been cooking with this mat range between 325 - 450F. But considering the manufacturer claims that it can withstand temps up to 500F, this should not be an issue.

Here are some of my observations so far:

PROS
- Really is "nonstick." Meats come right off the mat (so far I've baked chicken and fish on this mat with no added oils) post baking
- Doesn't burn while baking like if I tried to use parchment paper
- Dimensions fit what I need it for

CONS
- Crazy staining after only a few days of use. The material is nonstick for the meats, but apparently not for the oils and grease. All the leftover residue refuses to budge no matter if I scrub or soak. Certainly not going to go away with their "wipe with a soft sponge and water" recommendation
- Still feels greasy after I wash it. It just...feels and looks gross. The picture I've attached to this review shows how the mat looks right now POST-WASHING. Yuck.
- Oil and grease seeps through the mat and gets onto the pan below. Permeable. Is it supposed to do that?

I'm ordering a replacement and hoping that the second time around will prove that the first mat just had a defect. I noticed that a lot of reviews on here claimed defects or other issues. Overall, it basically works for what I want it to do. At the very least, I no longer have to scrape my meats off of the pan anymore. But I'm hoping that the new mat will be easier to clean and less gross looking. Having a mat this grungy after only a few days of use does not bode well for longevity.

silicone started cracking & flaking after 15 months

after only 15 months of infrequent use (perhaps 1-2 times a week where the mat was used roast vegetables), the silicone is coming off in small chips.
so much silicone has flaked off that you can see actual holes in the baking mat.
I never baked above a temperature of 230 degrees Celsius & i never folded/bent the mat.
very disappointed. perhaps I was shipped a counterfeit product?

I want to like this more. Like other silicone baking products I have tried, after not too long, you no longer feel like it is cleaning up. It gets dingy or what-have-you. Kinda sticky and greasy? Not sure. I no longer want to use it and find myself reaching for parchment paper instead. I would also like it to be a touch larger. I like it in concept, but it was only nice for a few months. Sadly.

It melted and stuck to my baking sheet

The temperature set to 400 degrees with 4 ramekins on it for 15 minutes. It melted, almost impossible to remove the silicone which stuck to pan. It is marked SILPAT Made in France N 07 shipped and sold by Amazon. I have no idea if this is counterfeit as claimed in some reviews, but the point of using this mat is nonstick and easy cleanup. This thing failed miserably. The AMAZONBASICS mat does not melt, is 1/3 the price, but sadly not available in 1/4 sheet. I'll keep it as a reminder to pay closer attention to the negative reviews. Parchment, Pam or foil will have to do.

Do their job but are so hard to clean

I like the idea of these and they work well while baking to keep a non-stick surface and I like that they are reusable, the only issue is cleaning, they never feel clean (like a lot of silicone items). I've washed them multiple times in a row, which is difficult in itself because they are flimsy and difficult to hold onto while washing, but they always feel oily in the end, its like they keep producing oil after you wash them. I didn't put oil directly on them, but most foods do contain some oils.
