5.0 out of 5 stars20 stars out of 5 in my books - watch out for “Amazon effect”

We tried many different ghee brands before – never really satisfied with any one. When we tried this AO ghee; our long lasting quest instantly came to a joyful end right there and then. That taste and smell brought back childhood memories that I wasn’t aware I kept (talking about four decades plus here). This ghee has been an absolute godsend – the best available on earth, literally second to none. I took pleasure to inform all my family & friends. Not only informing them, but I made sure that they taste it when they visit us. We become so enthusiastic and passionate about it. It’s a pricey product, but it still instantly become a staple in our kitchen. After a year and consumption of 14 jars later; ghee in last jar I received few days ago was completely different. I usually transfer some amount from jar to a container using a knife as spatula. That’s been always a “buttery soft” experience on all previous jars (and we always store them at 72F room temperature at all times). But to my horror; product in this jar acted as dense as cheddar cheese. I had to literally muscle it out. Color was lighter (not wonderfully saturated yellow hue as before). Smell was lighter. It also tasted lighter. I wrote a quite harsh critique to provided email on company brochure (presuming that the purity of the product was intentionally compromised – to increase profit margin). I really didn’t expect any meaningful response – may be a canned text from a careless call center clerk at best (as it is the norm nowadays – that includes you Amazon). Still, since we prized that product a lot; I had a sliver of hope that there might be some explanation. To my surprise, owner of the company replied with a sincere explanation. It turns out that Amazon changed warehouse location for them from California to New Jersey. So to make it to my door step; my jar criss-crossed the continent twice over – from California to New Jersey to Seattle, probably freezing and thawing over several times in between (hence “Amazon effect”). That’s probably not the best exposure for such organic product with medicinal properties. Owner of AO immediately acted on to correct things. He’ll probably be looking in ways to optimize Amazon logistics details.
This ghee ranked 10 stars to me before (in Amazon’s 5-star ranking). Now after seeing honesty & integrity of the people behind it; I sincerely and wholeheartedly rank it 20 stars.
