Bought this a while back. I liked the option to have an Aeropress at work that I didn't have to remember to bring a stack of filters in for. Great packaging, it comes in a paperboard envelope which protects it well from bends, etc. As a filter, it does the job needed of it. I like that it is reusable. Unfortunately, I think you should just stick with the paper filters. I know I went back to them.
Firstly, coffee fines get through. This is not a deal breaker, but i find myself tossing the last sip of coffee. And I love coffee. Even when its cold. Cleaning is also a pain. If your grinder is not consistent you can get some grinds stuck in the holes. Additionally, cleaning your AeroPress after use is far more difficult as instead of removing the lid and popping the filter and puck into the trash, you have to back off the plunger, open the still warm lid, get coffee and grinds on your hand while remove the metal filter, then pop the coffee ground puck into the trash. Meanwhile the lid and filter are making a mess on the counter where you left them. Then you get to do your normal AeroPress cleaning routine, being sure to clean the filter thoroughly. This is if you remember to take the filter out before ejecting the puck. Pre-caffeine I have made this mistake more than once.
Two last things to note. This filter is much thicker than the paper filters. This is no issue with the plastic lid staying on. Second, since this is not paper, when you first pour in the hot water, it will immediately start dripping through the filter and into your cup and when you press down you will get several streams of coffee shooting into your cup instead of a gentle rainfall.
