Great set that will last if taken care of properly!

These knives are great! This is my second set. We cook so much that I like having extra knives to use while prepping. These knives cut great. My last set is 14 years old and like new because I take care of them properly! Lots of people complain they’re ruined after putting them in the dishwasher but you never are suppose to wash knives in the dishwasher. No matter what brand you get. The dishwasher detergent ruins and metal. That’s a no brainer!

I purchased this product 2 weeks ago, and my two biggest knives are completely dull. I've washed by hand as suggested. It worked fine the first couple of times that I used, and after that, can cut anything with it. The reason I bought these was based on the name of the company and reviews, but I would NEVER purchase this product again. Yesterday I was on hold for 1:34hr waiting to talk to someone at J.A. Henckels International customer service, so I can return these horrible knives and had to hang up without speaking with anyone. Horrible product and horrible customer service.

The knives seem really sharp and is an all around quality starter set, especially being made in China (not Germany). The only really disappointing thing is the slots in the knife block don’t fit all the knives they were made for. I now have a lonesome paring knife with no home. Shed a tear for the paring knife.

Nice for the price. I've had real Henkels before, I purchased them when I was in Culinary School. They cost over $600 for a even smaller set. This of course are stamped, not forged but it is nice because they are so much lighter. No, they are not the Henkels your probably familiar with but you should know that based on the price. They practically cost the same as the Rachel Ray set at Walmart. For an affordable knife block set I think they look really good and are sharp. What more do you want?

I've bought several knives over the years, but never have I had to sharpen them before using them. First knife I tried was the Santoku knife. It was too dull to slice a tomato. Next i tried with the Paring knife, it too was too dull to do the job. I understand this is a budget line by the manufacturer and they compromised in the steel and the handles, but a knife manufacturer should never compromise on its edge. Bottom line, I didn't buy a set of top name knives to spend the next day or two going through sharpening them all. They're going back!

Other than the empty hole that I have to order another knife for it seems to be OK. If you look closely in the picture for the item for sale you can see the empty hole. I should have looked closer. Block looks odd with eight empty hole. The sawdust is bit of annoying as another reviewer stated.

Pros: sharp, inexpensive, decent set of basic kitchen knives, a through tang so don't expect breakage at handle.
Cons: lightweight feel and manufacture (certainly not the German made Henkels knives ... these are Chinese), thin steel blades. Similar in quality to the Ginsu knife sets advertised in infomercials but with the Henkels name.
I was hoping for Henkels quality blades but should have realized that the entire 7-piece set cost less than one really good Henkels knife. However, these knives were an upgrade (sharper) to an older set of kitchen knives that they replaced. Recently purchased so I cannot opine on the durability. If the self-sharpening feature doesn't work and the knives dull quickly or break, I will revisit this review. This set might be OK to gift to a young couple just starting out but certainly not something to gift to a "foodie" or kitchen pro. I'm experiencing a mild form of buyer's remorse but didn't want to go through the hassle of returning them ... and ... as I said, they are sharper than the knives I had been using.

Wow, poor quality for a high quality name. The handles are cracking, one of the knives has rust spots already. Keep in mind I hand wash and dry before putting away. That is supposed to keep their longevity. Dont waste your money.

I use these knives several times a day, and I love them! I see a lot of reviews on here from people disappointed that these aren’t the old Henkel’s they are used to from 20 years ago. That’s because they are not. These aren’t the twins. If you’re a professional chef, these likely aren’t the knives you’re bringing to work. If, however, like me you’re prepping and cooking 2-3 meals a day for your family, these are an excellent option! They slice right through tomatoes without resistance, and I can effortlessly get paper thin slices of onion as needed. Preference varies from person to person on whether they prefer a weightier knife, or a lighter one. These are lighter, and I prefer it that way. They aren’t for hacking through meat, but slice a nice steak and are excellent for butterflying pork chops. As with any other knife, if you’re letting it sit dirty overnight on the counter, soaking in water, or throwing it in the dishwasher, as with any other knife in the world, they will dull, chip, and begin to stain. With enough abuse, you can rust stainless steel. Knife preference varies from person to person. It’s a good idea to do your research, physically hold a knife in your hand before buying it. These knives are perfectly balanced. If you prefer a heavy knife, and buy a lighter knife, you will be disappointed. If like me, you’re looking for a quality, domestic knife that is lighter, and will help you effortlessly glide You through meal prep several times a day, these are a great choice! Hope this helps.

Terrible. I wish I could give zero stars. I never leave bad reviews but this has to be said. The steak knives literally tear at the meat. Also the knives stain and don’t come clean. DO NOT BUY THESE.
