Comes with a zip up pouch so it folds away and stores in my camera bag easily. Works exactly as advertised. There's not really anything fancy to say about it. If you need an inexpensive easily portable device to set your white balance in the field it's almost a no brainer.

Not bad, is what it is

The Gray card appears to be correct and same as what is listed. Not sure, but almost looks like I got something that had already been opened...by a 2 year old (all levels of packaging looked like it had been opened, and hurriedly shoved back in and "hope nobody sees the damage". The "Loop Strap" that is on the case had been pulled off at one end and was totally frayed (see attached photo). So, the added benefit of being able to hang this off my kit is NON-existant. This will either have to go inside my pack, inside my pocket, or talk to my wife and see if she can work magic with a sewing machine.... honestly, for $8, I probably should not have expected much. For the rest of it..."EASY TO FOLD"... Well, even when my kiddo was a toddler and we had these style of folding play things, and car sun shades.... it is NEVER "easy", but I always end up making it work! ;-) Probably operator error on that. Otherwise, looks ok.

It's not perfect but it's not bad either. At such an inexpensive price point, it's hard to beat this. I accidentally bought two but kept both because the price and small size are perfect. I have one in my camera bag and one in a loose ends/backup bag for when I'm traveling on-set.

On my GH5, this works just fine for setting white balance. I've tried with both the white side and the gray side and both seem to produce the same results.

Plus, it's pretty fun to snap it open when pulling it out of its 4" x 4" bag. The quick and easy fold-up means it's perfectly compact and will fit in a camera bag, back pocket, or whatever other small space you have available (the side pockets on a camera bag work great).

Clients also love it. It's something they can quickly hold and it seems like giving them something to hold while getting the frame set helps reduce their anxiety about filming.

Get one. Given its low price, you can't go wrong. It might not be 100% perfect but it's almost perfect and especially so for the price it's at.

On set white balance doesn't need to be difficult. For the majority of work it doesn't even need to be precise. But you do want to get close enough to not make more work for yourself. This target is a low budget solution to a lot of set up issues most studio photographers face. It's also great as a location shooter when you need to get to your exposure and white balance quickly.

Not perfect, wrinkles and color

Okay, so this is NOT a PERFECT product, BUT it does the job. I've used this outdoors in the sun and indoors in a studio and compared it against a Spyder Checkr 24 for white balance and it is close. It was a touch too warm, but not bad. When I did the in camera balance for instance, the spyder resulted in 4300K, the Lightdow was either 4300K or 4200K sometimes, but for the convenience of getting a nice size target then folding it back to a 4" size and throwing it in the case, for around $8, really can't be beat. Yes, there are wrinkles in the gray area which can be made better by leaving it open a few days, and there looked to be some "microcracking" in the material on the gray side (it is a rubbery feeling coating) but at this point neither affect the balance in my tests. I did not have any black marks as some showed and the frame is still holding up, though I only used it maybe 10 times so far. For the price though, definitely a win. If it were $25 I'd send it back, but for the lower price I'll use it until something happens or it gets stolen and wouldn't feel bad dishing out another $8.

Good Inexpensive White Balance Card

This white balance card is good for what you pay for it. I compared it to a more expensive white balance card I own and it is a little bit too blue, which means your pictures are a little too red. I could see the difference with the pictures side by side, but it would be hard to tell if you didn't have something to compare it to. It is certainly better than nothing if you are under cheap artificial lights or other difficult lighting situations. Worth it for less than 10 USD!
