Top critical review
1.0 out of 5 starsUltimately...a health hazard :(

I have been dreading writing this review. There are things about this processor that I truly love. And believe me, I have put it through its paces. In this past week I have not only sliced, diced and shredded, I have also churned butter from cream, emulsified yolks and oil into mayonnaise and did the challenging portion of biscuit dough...mixing cold butter with flour! Now admittedly, churning butter from cream made the motor weep...just a little, as well as sent my cat scurrying for cover from the "sounds like a wood chipper" motor. But darned if this cheap little machine didn't hang with the big dogs on my projects. For the first day, I could just picture composing this review talking about how the height of the lower blade is just a little too high, so trying to do small batches would be a challenge. Or the upper blade just a little too low so shredding cheese meant having more than usual big chunks leftover. But the ease with which I could snap together and take apart the pieces was wonderful. And loud as the motor might be, it truly did get the job done.
Sadly, I quickly realized this Food Processor's fatal flaw when I went to wash it. The "safety tube" that runs the vertical length of the product and forces the food pusher to be in place before the blades can be turned on, is a problem. Forget that sometimes with slicing and dicing, small bits of food can get caught within the solid piece. I think I would be ok the few times that happened (with the many times I used it) taking the 10 minutes with a tooth pick and heavy stream of water, fiddling till I could get it to wash through and out the temporarily propped open minuscule opening. The problem is, every time I washed it, no matter how hot the rinse water was, water is caught in the safety tube and can not evaporate. When the machine is in pieces, the safety tube is entirely closed, so air cannot circulate to dry the area. 3 days after I washed the FP, water droplets remained in the tube creating the health hazard. Since the tube cannot be disassembled, it cannot be dried.
Inconvenience I can handle, especially for the price point, but health hazards are a deal breaker.
