Runs hot and stopped working properly after 1 year and 5 months

Initially this product was great. In mid 2015, Comcast increased the speed from 100 Mbps to 150 Mbps for my service. When that happened and I rebooted, I did various speed tests at different times and was getting more about 170 Mbps. So, I was pleased about getting a little extra speed.
I had this cable modem for about 1 year and 5 months before I started having problems. The modem was running hot in early July 2016, and I lost my internet connection. I tried unplugging the modem and plugging it back in after 10 seconds, and did the repeatedly with no luck. I waited and tried again, putting it on top of the floor vent so that it gets the cool air conditioned air. When I did that, it worked, I was back online, and I left it there ever since. However, now it's late July 2016, and it gave out for me in the middle of the day when I'm working from home!! Needless to say I was very unhappy that it failed me when I needed it the most. I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in, without luck. I ultimately had to buy a new cable modem and bought the Netgear CM600, based on suggestions from another review I saw. Considering I paid top dollar for this modem, I was expecting that this would last me for about 5 years, give or take. But instead it last 1 year and 5 months. Do not buy!!
