When I ordered Daydreams, I thought I would be getting myself additional strange and complex pictures I experienced in my first playing of a Dixit game...Dixit Journey. Based on that expectation, I was disappointed..

1) The "Daydreams" seems to refer to the soft-toned pictures, almost entirely greens...blues...beige/browns. There is a conspicuous absence of white, yellow, orange, red and black from the cards. Besides lacking those colors, the cards have a decided muted-tone look to them....not very vibrant.

2) I was disappointed on the over-reliance on people/animals with long weird arms, distorted bodies, or weird hair or hats. Within this 84 card expansion set, I counted 48 such cards---32 people and 16 animals. These images are beautiful to be sure, but that's pretty much all that appears on the card. There is a lack of action or disparate objects/settings included on the card on which to base different interpretations and descriptions (as I had encountered in the Dixit-Journey version I played)..

3) I then did research on boardgamegeek.com and found out that not all Dixit games are done by the same artist.
Dixit-artist is Marie Cardouat
Quest-artist is Marie Cardouat
Odyssey-artist is Marie Cardouat-Piero
Journey-artist is Xavier Collette
Origins-artist is Clement Lefevre
Daydreams-artist is Frank Dion

4) I wrote this review because, had I known all this pre-purchase, I probably would have purchased some other Dixit version that did not have the muted and limited color scheme and over-abundant usage of people/animal creatures that just sit there and don't do much.

Dixit is our favorite family game. We have the starter set plus three expansion boxes. This one seems to be a bit more psychedelic than the others. I like it and find the images interesting, but it's like being in Picasso and Dali's heads. I think it was a bit too out there for our girls (ages 7 and 11) but I think stoners and drunk people will have a blast with it. My husband and I also enjoyed the challenge of coming up with clues for these cards. They are different enough from other boxes that they noticeably change the feel of the game.

Dixit is a great family game, but this expansion was a let down. The artwork, while very intriguing, is muted in color and completely missing the vibrancy of other cards. But the real kicker is that the cards themselves are lower quality and noticeably thinner and more flimsy than the core game and previous expansions. Skip this one.

Played a game or two with this and found we had just as much fun as with all the other expansions. The art is a very different style than all the other expansions, which give the game alot more variety. Other people's reviews seem to not like it as much, but I think it's just as cool as the others, just different.

They should definitely sell the next expansion in a box made to hold all the cards released. My original dixit box is overflowing with cards!!

This expansion is so very different from the regular pics in the original game. Those were very interpretive; these are more specific, which is just a bit harder but just as fun.

This dixit pack has the BEST paintings in my opinion. We like to play Dixit on family game night and Odyssey was getting a bit stale so buying this gave our game night new life.

Buying this expansion added so much to the game. I feel like these illustrations are even better than the original. Love, love, love it!

This new addition to our Dixit collection is fantastic. The daydream collection definitely stands out from the standard set, and has already made for some fantastic gameplay. I'd highly recommend picking this expansion up, and I'm searching for more!

THOUGHT WE WOULD TRY THIS GAME FOR THE HOLIDAY GAME NIGHTS... TURNED OUT TO BE REALLY FUN AND INTRIGUING!! LOTS OF LAUGHS... THE ARTISTRY IN THE CARDS ARE BEAUTIFUL, BUT SOME TO BE HONEST MAKES YOU WONDER IF THE ARTIST CAME OUT OF THE BEATLES MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR! IT IS GREAT FUN - FAST AND FUN!!!! REMINDED ME OF CARDS AGAINST HUMANITY BUT WITH NO WORDS ON THE CARDS. IT'S ALL PICTURES...
