The only not-so-good thing about this product is that it's really big – maybe even too much for just one day. But considering the price, it's a good idea to cook a lot at once and save some for later in the fridge.

At first, I was a little worried because it was cheaper than other options. But I'm happy I picked this one. It has a lot of Jack fruit inside, so it's a great deal. It tastes better and is better quality compared to the smaller cans that only have a few pieces.

I'm also happy to know that this product comes from Sri Lanka, a place where Jack Fruit trees are plentiful. It's nice to have a connection to where it's from.

Good product if you want to reduce meat consumption

As a diabetic, it would be easy to eat way too much meat. Jackfruit is a good substitute and a lot of the meals I eat. I really like it chopped up and stir fry. I’ve also chopped it in boiled it, and then frozen it to use on demand for my meals. As a diabetic type two, I eat, frequent small meals and for me this is a very good product that is not soy based. Highly recommended.

This is a great deal on jackfruit and it tastes good and seems quality. It was discolored pink but from googling that seems to be something that just happens to canned jackfruit so not a big deal. I do not like that it has lime in the ingredients because you can taste it a bit even when it's been cooked, and I really do not love the amount of salt in this - it's a very high sodium product! If you don't care about salt and don't think the slight lime flavor will bother you, this is definitely a good product and a great price.

Great product, misleading listing

This jackfruit is my favorite of the brined, young green jackfruit brands I've tried. However, I wasn't sure what quantity I was getting. The listing is for "Native Forest Organic Young Jackfruit Can, Foodservice Size, 6.1 Pound", so I first thought it was just for the one can, but then the "About the Product" noted that there are 6 per case, and the price at the time that I'm writing this shows as "$15.61 ($0.16 / Pound)". So with that calculation, I assumed they meant $0.16 / Ounce and I was getting a case of the jackfruit. Perhaps predictably, when the order came it was only a single can, or $0.97 / Ounce.

If the product description changes, I'll remove the above paragraph of my review and add a star or two, because I really do like the product. The jackfruit chunks are more consistent in size and shape than some of the other brands that I've tried, and more of what's in the can is the shreddable part of the fruit that gives it the shredded pork/chicken look.

This is a nice, meaty fruit that makes for excellent "carnitas". When I serve it in tacos or other dishes, there are often meat eaters who are surprised to fined they aren't eating meat, though I don't try to trick anybody. I have definitely found that the brined jackfruit does better with a marinade, as it doesn't have much flavor on its own other than the tang of the brine, and a short sauté isn't enough to overcome that. But a nice simmer following an overnight soak in a marinade that includes pineapple juice, chipotle, and some other peppers and spices makes for a really satisfying meal when you're looking for something more substantial than beans in your veggie tacos. I eat as much fake meat as any vegetarian, but I find this to be more flexible to cook with and more satisfying to eat than a lot of manufactured meat substitutes.
